Roland Alton-Scheidl

Founder and Board Member

He had studied Computer Science and Media Art in Vienna and was working as a project manager in the Austrian leisure industry. Then he conducted Technology Assessment projects at the Research Unit for Socio-Economics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and was giving University courses in Austria, Sweden and France.

Since 1994, at PUBLIC VOICE, he designed and developed audiotex services on OS/2, was Technical Manager for the Web4Groups Java software and co-edited the highly successful Internet guide Oesterreich Online (www.oesterreichonline.at). He was then acquiring and managing a number of R&D projects in the fields of e-Democracy, e-Inclusion and Streaming Media with an average size of one million Euro each.

He was speaking at DG Info of the European Commission and IEEE events and has published a number of articles and books. After the dot.com crash, he became an open source evangelist. Since March 2003, he is also managing the InterMedia course at Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences.
